Jack & Rylee

Yesterday Jack and I got to play with Rylee, his second cousin, all day. I have watched Rylee before but this time was different because now she can crawl. So Jack was crawling around the house as well. It was pretty funny. It is also good training for him on how to share. He lately has developed a thing for not liking other kids to play with his toys. So it was an eventful morning of Jack taking the toy away from Rylee and me giving it back. By the end of the day he would give her a toy and then take it away again, then give it back. I just sat in awe of the fact that Rylee didn't cry once while this was happening. What a good baby.

I took a couple pictures of them. The first one is of Jack doing his favorite thing. He loves to stand at the landing on our stairs and throw the ball down. Then have me or some other unsuspecting person throw it back up. He can do this for hours. He wanted Rylee to play too but I didn't like the idea of her on our landing. So I put both of them behind the gate at the top of our stairs. Jack loved it and Rylee would laugh whenever the ball flew over her.

Jack has this thing with sitting on peoples laps. He normally does it with adults, but for some reason every time we play with Rylee he loves to attempt to sit on her lap. She is nice enough to tolerate it for a minute. At least this time he didn't actually sit on her lap, that normally ends with two crying babies.

Bee's Game

Last Saturday we went to a Bee's Game with Sean's parents and our friends Amber, RD and their little girl Rylee. I knew going into it that I wasn't going to be able to watch much of the game, with Jack being there and all, but I can honestly say that I didn't watch any of it. I fed Jack his hot dog, which was disgusting, ketchup everywhere. We had a little scare when Doris felt sick (a little heat exhaustion) but a little time in the First Aid Station and she was good as new. Walking up and down the stairs with Jack took the majority of my time. The stairs were just his size and he could walk up and down without any help, so he wanted to do it over and over again. Those poor people sitting next to the aisle, at first they loved seeing Jack, but then I am sure they were like, hey lady take your son and sit down. He loved the Bee, though we were there to see the famous chicken, he loved the Bee better. He had no interest in the chicken. All in all it was a fun family outing. We had a few crying spells, but when don't you? Hopefully next summer Jack will actually be interested in baseball and then we can sit and watch.

Movie Review

The Hulk: Edward Norton does an outstanding job. The choler and aggression the Hulk shows is much greater than the 2003 version. Much more action, a lot less dialog. Sarah and I loved it.

SARAH: I loved this movie. It was truly an action flick. Edward Norton is The Hulk. I was worried prior to seeing this film that he was to skinny, and as an actor to drama based. But he did an amazing job. He also had a lot to do with the script and producing of this movie. The chemistry between himself and Liv Tyler is really there and shows how good of actors there really are. Although it doesn't have the comedic edge that Iron Man has this movie is still a great one to see!!

The Great Debaters: I liked this show. It had a great story, great acting, but I don't want to watch it again. A more appropriate title would have been "A Great Segregation." This movie, though rated PG13, is not fit for anyone under 25. I have never seen a more gruesome and emotional lynching scene. I can appreciate what everyone had to and still have to go through for equal rights but there is a much more civil way to encourage this. The debate scenes were very few and outstanding.

SARAH: I completely agree with what Sean said above. There were some very graphic scenes, that showed too much. The actual debate scenes were great. They really should have focused more on the debates and the events leading up to them. As opposed to the personal lives of the individual debaters. I don't think I would watch this again. Ever.

The end of a pointless lawsuit

Well I finally got the call from my lawyer yesterday...did I tell you his name is Peter Christensen? No relation but still kind of cool that he has the same name as my uncle. Anyway the arbitrator granted "the lady" $2,000. I think that I can live with that, especially since my insurance is paying for it and not me. She should of taken the settlement they offered her a few months ago of $5,000. In case your wondering she sued me for $55,000 + attorney's fees. As I said before an absurd amount of money considering there was no damage and I was never even issued a ticket.

Back to the phone call. He said that she has verbally agreed to the amount and just needs to sign some sort of satisfactory of settlement something or other. Then he has to petition to the judge for the prejudice to be taken off of my record or something like that. I don't really understand all of the lawyer lingo. But I understood the important part, that she has agreed to the amount. So it is over. Almost 5 years and I can finally breath freely again, no lurking mad women in the scary corners of my mind.
Hoooray!!!

Happy Birthday Justin

My little brother Justin is 26 today. Happy Birthday. I hope you like the new driver from your wife. This picture is mainly for my parents and Megan. (don't ask me what he is doing, I've been trying to figure it out for 20 years now) Enjoy.

Nursery

Well yesterday was Jack's first day in nursery. It is still weird that he is old enough to be going. All morning I kept telling myself that he was too little and should just come to class with me. I had horrible visions of older kids clobbering him. Then I remembered that I can never listen in class because I am chasing him around, so I decided I could do it. Sean came with me at first. When Jack seemed to be ok Sean ducked out. So after five more minutes and Jack not even realizing I was there I decided it was my turn to sneak out. I got out the door and closed it and surprisingly didn't hear any sudden crying. So I headed off to class. Well I hadn't been sitting there five minutes when I get tapped on the shoulder by someone pointing at the door. No it wasn't Jack, it was Sean and one of the counselors in the bishopric. So we had a nice little chat where I got a new calling as a den mother. No idea what is involved in that, there will probably be much blogging about that later. After our little chat we decided to check on Jack. Well he was screaming and crying and just so sad. So I came in and sat with him for a half an hour. Then decided to chalk it up as a good try and have another go next week. So I took him across the hall to change his diaper and when I was done he ran back into the nursery. I stood in the hall shocked. I didn't know whether to follow or go to class. I went to class and Jack did great the remaining hour of nursery. He even cried when it was time to leave and go to Sacrament meeting. So I guess that next week he will be ok and I will just have to deal with the fact that my baby is growing up. Now if he could just get some more teeth so he can eat the snack, that would be great!!

My son the Parselmouth

Most of you know that I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. Love the books, love the movies. Well one day Jack was walking around the house and speaking some little baby language that none of us can understand. Sean, the clever person that he is, said "Jack is speaking Parseltounge." I laughed because it really did sound like that.
This morning he has been walking around talking Parselmouth to me. So I grabbed the camera and caught it for all of you to see. I am still laughing.
For those of you aren't Potter freaks like me, Parseltounge is the ability to talk to snakes.

The Results

I am sure you have all been waiting anxiously for the results of what happened today. I wish I could tell you more. You see, I was dismissed before the Arbitrator came to his decision. My lawyer said he would call once the decision was made. I never received a call so I am assuming that he is still thinking it over. Other than not having the actual results I feel that it went really well. I won't bore you to death with all of the details, but as my lawyer put it, this was a "nothing accident". My attorney had done his homework and found that the majority of what she said during her deposition was untrue.

Arbitration

Tomorrow is my arbitration hearing. For those of you who don't know, I am being sued.

I bumped, well barely nudged, into the back of a ladies car almost five years ago. My insurance company told me the damage to her car was not even $300. If the car companies had gone back to using rubber bumpers, as my Grandpa Christensen lobbied for them to do when he was President of All-State, then we would of shook hands and been on our merry ways. But no, she wasn't going to let it go that easily.

Last summer I received the papers that she was suing me for an absurd amount of money. It was strange because it had been almost four years since the accident. I then found out that in Utah if you don't file the lawsuit within four years of the accident you loose the chance to. I got the papers two weeks before the chance would of expired.

So over the last year we have had depositions and all of the fun legal stuff that has to happen. Like the "discovery" period where they find out all sorts of stuff about the people involved. Then two months ago I get the letter that instead of going to trial we are going to have an arbitration and hopefully end this once and for all. I was relieved, especially since I had two months to mentally prepare for it.

Now I have less than 24 hours and I can feel my stomach slowly turning into knots. I had a freak out yesterday about nothing, Sean was nice enough to say it was from the stress. So I am writing this to let you all know that you should never hit anyone, OK a little out of our control. But if you do call me in the next 24 hours and I am not as chipper as normal, now you know why.

I will post the results tomorrow. Hopefully it all goes well.

Francisco's: That's Fun to Say, Francisco!

Sarah and I thought we would check out a new local joint here in Farmington. Its the new Mexican restaurant on the corner of main street across from the Davis County Courthouse. We loved it. The food was absolutely delightful. The atmosphere had a very local only feel to it. The chocolate cake was to die for. Can anyone say repletion? Please, check it out sometime. (did anyone catch the movie quote in the title?)

Uncle Chase

Here is a picture of Jack and Uncle Chase (my brother). Raconteur Chase can tell the story a whole lot better than I can. This picture was taken after Chase had taken Jack to the driving range. Apparently Chase would dump the bucket, grab 3 golf balls, tee up and swing away. By this time Jack had put all the golf balls back in the bucket and started the process all over again. Jack sure likes his Uncle Chase!

Doors

Last night we had a big family dinner at my Aunt Janet's house. Jack had the time of his life playing with her little toy van. He LOVES doors and this has two of them. He played with it for hours and was so mad when I took him away from it. As you can see from the pictures he rarely sat in it. He would open one door and slide through to the other side to open the other door. SO CUTE. I really appreciated it being there because then I actual got to sit and chat instead of chase him around. It was a fun night and needless to say I will now be surfing the internet in search of a similar van.
